Litter-ally
My cat has undergone surgery for urinary blockage, and since then, I've been constantly worried about whether he is urinating properly. After my cat’s recovery, I became more focused on monitoring his eating habits and daily urination patterns. However, despite my best efforts to check the litter box daily, I still found it incredibly difficult to gauge his health based on the size of the litter clumps, especially during busy work and study periods. Since he doesn't have a fixed urination schedule, I would occasionally forget the size of the clumps from the previous day, leaving me uncertain about his health.
This experience made me realize the need for a more reliable and real-time solution to monitor a cat’s health. That's why I decided to design a product that utilizes the Internet of Things (IoT) to continuously track a cat’s health, enabling pet owners to check on their cats’ well-being anytime, anywhere, and to alleviate the anxiety that many of us experience. My goal is to help more cat owners feel confident and reassured in caring for their furry companions, without the constant worry of health-related issues.

01 Persona
While working on the Litter-ally project, I drew inspiration primarily from my own personal experience as a cat owner. My cat’s struggle with urinary blockage and the challenges I faced in monitoring his health served as the foundation for this project. I began by recognizing the common concerns many pet owners have when it comes to tracking their cats’ health, especially those who have experienced health issues like urinary problems.
The insights gathered from my personal journey helped me identify the core problems that Litter-ally seeks to solve, from health monitoring to reducing the anxiety associated with caring for a pet. Although future iterations of the project would benefit from more comprehensive user research, I believe this initial design aligns closely with the practical needs of pet owners based on my own experiences.
